If it’s your first year as a student here at Ohio Wesleyan, you might already be tired of the dining hall food—the same building, at the same table, with the same atmosphere, every single day. What you might not know is that ‘Beautiful Downtown Delaware’ is packed with great food options that range from quick bites to date nights.
Luckily, after four years on campus, I can open your eyes to new spots that can enhance your college experience. Dine in at one of these four restaurants below!
Mi Cerritos
A small, intimate Mexican restaurant right across the street from the Strand Theater. Mi Cerritos offers inexpensive and excellent menu options. A bar/high-top area allows for game nights, as well as their dining room area which provides a more traditional sit-down dining experience.
Amato’s
On the corner of W. William and Sandusky, just down the road from the Corns building stands a classic casual Italian restaurant, great for a warm weather night. Their pizza and pasta dishes are some of the best around, as well as their ‘make you feel at home’ atmosphere. The outdoor seating options are a nice touch that adds a little something extra to the dining experience.
Hamburger Inn Diner
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner, “Hambo’s” is there for you! This old-style, classic diner is perfect for a weekend morning or a late night after studying. With its variety of signature burgers and world-famous cinnamon rolls, Hamburger Inn is a Delaware staple. Walk in, grab a seat, and put down a burger or two!
Son of Thurman
Across the street from Hamburger Inn, Son of Thurman provides a pub-style menu with large portions and dishes that will stick to your ribs. Classic burgers, phenomenal appetizers, and plenty of beer on tap - for your parents - are the trademarks of Thurman’s. Go in there with a big appetite, and you will come out happy!
Ohio Wesleyan students are very lucky to have so many accessible food options, all within walking distance of campus. Smith and Ham-Will can get old quickly, so feel free to use this guide to shake things up!
