Adopt From the Humane Society of Delaware County!

Feeling lonely? A friend is just a car ride away from Ohio Wesleyan University at the  Humane Society of Delaware County.


The Humane Society of Delaware County currently has over 20 dogs looking for forever homes on sight and even more that are in foster homes. The society also has upwards of 50 cats up for adoption.


These furry friends are looking for someone to show them love and affection. In addition to dogs and cats, the Humane Society will also have guinea pigs and rabbits on occasion. 


Adopting from the Humane Society of Delaware is easy. The requirements are shown below:


- You must be at least 18 years old 

- You must show a picture ID with a current address  

- Fill out their adoption application 

- Have a meet and greet with other pets at home 

- Have a collar and leash for dogs and a crate to leave in for cats 

- Dogs also require a dog license 


To purchase a dog license, it is $15 for a new pet or puppy.


If you are late to purchasing this, an additional $15 fee will be added. The adoption fees will be listed below. 


- Puppy (under 1 year): $350 + $12 license fee 

- Adult Dog: $200 + $12 license fee 

- Kittens (under 7 months): $95 

- Adult cats: $70 

- Guinea pig: $25  

- Rabbit: $35


These adoption fees include- 


- Spay or neuter surgery 

- Heartworm test on dogs 6 months and older, and FeLV tests on all cats and kittens - Current vaccinations 

- Deworming treatment 

- Microchip
