With the upcoming basketball season approaching, Ohio Wesleyan Men’s Basketball is gearing up for an exciting year. After a mixed performance last season, players and coaches are eager to improve. The team aims to build on last year’s foundation and incorporate new strategies for a stronger conference showing and a potential March run.
This season, all eyes will be on returning standouts like Henry Hinkle, who made a significant impact last year with his leadership ability on the court and mesmerizing offensive skills. Leadership from experienced players like Tony Carter will be critical in setting the tone for this season, as well as providing guidance both on and off the court for newcomers.
Assistant coach David Vogel emphasized the value of experience.
“It helps a lot - obviously we have guys who know what we’re trying to do and have been through battles,” said Vogel.
He also highlighted the veterans’ role off the court.
“They are already doing a great job carrying our culture and showing the young guys how we want to do things,” said Vogel.
With a freshman class of ten, this mix of experience and youth is crucial.
“Everyone leads in their own way… having a mixture of these leaders can result in great team chemistry as the team builds day by day,” said Carter.
Excitement is high as the team has a blend of experience, fresh talent, and a focused strategy.
“The NCAC is going to be tough, but we’re excited about our group,” said Vogel.
Backed by community support, OWU Men’s Basketball is ready to make this season memorable.
