Ohio Wesleyan University Announces Tuition Increase for 2025-26 School Year

Holly Southwick

Administrators of Ohio Wesleyan announced a spike in room and board costs starting in the 2025-26 fall semester. Base tuition price will increase by two percent while room and board will increase by four percent.

Funding will help support exciting new advancements on campus, expand academic programs, and offer more student services. While rising costs are alarming, the school is confident these investments will provide long-term benefits for students future OWU students.

Board members agreed on the increase in price due to economic changes such as inflation in areas ranging from food, healthcare, and energy costs. Additional funds as well as alumni donations are being put toward advancing Ohio Wesleyan's campus and educational opportunities.

Steve Lippiello, VP of Finance and Administration at OWU, discusses plans for the ongoing construction and expansion of the new campus library. Lippiello also touches on the value of an OWU education.

“Our main goal is creating a revolutionary library that students can use for more than just a library, with much more advanced technology. We want to create and build a space where students want to stay. When students think about Ohio Wesleyan, they see much more than the cost of tuition, they think about all of the friendships they have made, all of the clubs and activities offered, and how there is a place for everyone.”

Ohio Wesleyan is also able to award more than 15 million dollars in scholarships and grants to students yearly to help aid in tuition. Lippiello explains the importance of education still being accessible to students and families.

“When it comes time to budget, we always consider what is in the best interest of the students. No decision would be made without careful consideration. Increases also allow for more scholarships and tuition aid to be given.”

Mary Switzer, mother of an OWU senior, explains that OWU is on the right track in advancing their campus by acknowledging the changes Ohio Wesleyan has made over the years.

“The school has come a long way. Ohio Wesleyan has developed so much from when I grew up here in Delaware. As a parent, it is important to be able to see where your money is going. You want to know your child is getting a good education”.

Beginning in the 2025 fall semester the total cost of tuition will be $70,946. Ohio Wesleyan takes pride in the education offered and proudly offers financial aid, and scholarships and encourages students to file the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) for the 2025-2026 school year before March.
