The Ohio Wesleyan women's lacrosse team is projected to break records on records this spring, with anticipation from the team reaching a fever pitch. Whether you are a lifelong fan or new to the game, the team encourages everyone to enjoy a game or two and see something special.
Women’s lacrosse didn't quite reach their goals in 2024. According to head coach Paige Messersmith, the team’s growth since then isn't just physical– it's mental and emotional as well.
“Outside of having more depth, we have generally a lighter disposition as a team,” she said. “The team is able to brush off mistakes and move through things. We are tactically faster and have so much cohesion.”
Messersmith added that her team’s ability to work together is so much further along this year than in previous years.
The team’s commitment to excellence is evidently clear.
“Everyone has worked extremely hard during our off-season and pre-season so far, not only in the weight room and at practice but also on our own time,” said Sophomore Jillian Andreas. “We have such a good bunch of talented ladies”
Chloe Heminger, a sophomore, doesn't play lacrosse herself but she's been an observer of the team because her roommates are on the team. “They've spoken so positively about this season,” Heminger shared that they just seem really willing to get out there and have some fun.
As the season quickly approaches, there's no better time to jump in and witness the excitement for yourself. Don't miss out, catch a game! Hopefully, every student is able to cheer on women's lacrosse this season.
