In a perfectly curated world of feeds and filters, Olivia Feisel has amassed 19,000 followers and over 4.5 million likes on TikTok- all while staying true to herself. The attention has garnered interest from brands like Barstool Sports and Tower28 Beauty, but Feisel is determined to keep it real.
“Authenticity is the most important thing,” Feisel emphasizes. “I don’t want people to think my life is perfect or anything."
As a junior at Ohio Wesleyan University (OWU), Feisel navigates the challenges of college life while balancing her rise to internet stardom. She is a middle school education major and theater minor.
Feisel is a welcomed name on the OWU campus. Karson Canterbury, junior, provided insight into his experience working with her in education class.
“I was very lucky enough to have Liv in a class we were both passionate about. Not only was she fully engaged, but she participated every chance she got. She is very hardworking and very smart. I'm sure anyone else in that class would say the same thing,” said Canterbury.
Outside of academics, Feisel is a vital member of the performing arts department. She was granted the lead in the fall play “Helen.”
Feisel has additionally been part of the OWU cheerleading team for two years. Captain, Sydney Wilt commented on her contribution to the team.
“I have been a follower of her Tiktok for some time. As a captain of the team, Liv’s social media has not affected her, she has very good knowledge of trends going around and helps our PR team a lot,” said Wilt.
Feisel has grown her following since the beginning of the pandemic. She has had time to perfect and reflect on what image she wants to portray to her audience. Authenticity is a key feature of Feisel’s Tiktok. In this age of social media, many influencers paint themselves as someone else. Part of what attracts viewers to her is her ability to use humor and her interests to feel relatable.
“It’s nice to be able to talk about whatever I want and know there’s someone out there who wants to listen. My target audience is other young adults like me, specifically women. I like giving people real and honest advice about makeup as someone who does not have unlimited money like a large influencer does, because that’s the kind of advice I would want for myself,” said Feisel.
Feisel shared a parting thought for anyone who wants to get into social media.
“Start posting anything and everything! Get yourself out there! With the amount of people consuming content on social media, there’s always gonna be someone who shares your interests and wants to hear what you have to say,” said Feisel.
