Students Share Summer Travel Plans

With the spring semester coming to a close, students begin to look forward to their plans for the summer.

Amna Ashfaq, an OWU student from Pakistan, shared this common excitement for her summer plans. She tells how rushed and overwhelming it is, the way this semester is ending early.

With exams, events, and a job it is no doubt a stressful workload for her this semester, making her look forward to a relaxing break.

With summer break approaching, many like her are going back to their hometown or applying for on-campus internships. International students like herself see this summer break as an opportunity to visit home and meet their family.

Being a sophomore and a CS major she believes she has a lot of competition, and especially when applying for remote jobs.

Either way she still wants to enjoy her vacation once she visits back home and see her friends, cousins and parents. Alongside her visit, she is planning on doing a remote paid internship but it requires a long process of applications. Lastly she wants to visit the northern areas of Pakistan such as Murree, Nathia Gali and Sawat’. If not a remote job, she’ll apply for internships in Pakistan to keep herself on track with her studies as well.

Another OWU student, Sam Al Badeh, plans to spend his summer with his friends. He’ll visit California for a month, where he will appreciate the sun, especially after experiencing the unpredictable Ohio weather.

He will then visit his family in South Carolina, where he plans to complete an

internship to gain work experience before the fall semester begins in August.

Since he is a biomedical major, wants to do in person internships so he can achieve the desired skills as well. He is looking forward to spending time with his friends and family, and eating his mother’s food that she makes daily.
